Betrayal

By Harold Pinter

October 5-15, 2023

Directed by

Daniel Gerroll

Winner of numerous awards, including the 1979 Olivier Play of the Year, Betrayal is perhaps Pinter’s most famous “memory play”. It dissects love and marriage with a scalpel of humor, regret, desire, and brutal honesty. Pinter’s genius resides in the words that go unsaid; in Betrayal, it is not so much what we know, but when we know it that is responsible for the real tension.

APPLICANT

Directed by

Marilyn Fox

KCS is thrilled to co-produce this show with Pacific Resident Theater  (PRT), who originally presented this show for an extended run, to rave reviews, in Los Angeles. Two of his earliest plays, Pinter’s Applicant and The Dumb Waiter helped establish the unique Pinter style known as the comedy of menace. These exquisite, absurdist, terrifying yet hilarious plays beg to know what power is in charge of it all and whether or not that power has any idea of what it is doing.

The Dumb Waiter, co-directed by Elina de Santos and Fox, doesn’t disappoint. Downs and Anthony Foux have the Pinter-esque menace down pat. And it’s great to see actors immersing themselves in the cryptically precise language of two artists who were ushering in new styles of playwriting that would forever change how characters speak and act onstage.

*~*PLEASE NOTE FOR ALL SHOWS:*~*

PARKING is available at the North Castle Library

DOORS OPEN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO SHOWTIME; SEATING WILL BEGIN THEN. If you arrive earlier than seating time, we recommend Amore for a cocktail or cappuccino.

TALK BACKS are voluntary and will occur immediately after the show,  lasting approximately 20 min.

FOR THOSE TRAVELING FROM NYC, the closest train station is North White Plains and Uber is available both to and from the theatre. Here are a few tips:
The North White Plains train station is approximately 11 minutes away from the theatre
• It is recommended you allow approx. 15 minutes for an Uber to arrive, so please plan and request accordingly.

FYI: If you are not already familiar with the North Castle Library’s location, sometimes there is an issue with the googling the library’s address (which is technically 19 EAST Whippoorwill Road, Armonk). It might help to input Amore Pizza, Armonk, which shares a parking lot with the library, to make sure you are headed to the right place.

  • If you want to grab a drink before or after the show, our corporate sponsor Amore (right next door to the theatre), has created a delicious, specialty cocktail just for KCS called the Pinter Pause. Just in time for Fall, this Apple Mule mixes vodka with fresh apple cider caramel sauce, served over ice and garnished with a slice of apple and a cinnamon stick. Don’t miss your chance to chat about the Pinter Plays while sipping the Pinter Pause at Amore!
