Macbeth…The Dark Side of the Bard

In this bi-weekly workshop students will focus on the clues Shakespeare put in his text to guide and inform actors performing his plays. Using in depth scene work, young actors will be on their feet, discovering ways to express themselves with voice and body. We will also explore how the tools we use to unlock Shakespeare can be used in any aspect of performance and public speaking.

For this session we are taking on the dramatic, supernatural, and thrilling tragedy of Macbeth! Through scenes and soliloquies, students will explore the conflicted ambition of Macbeth, the wicked machinations of Lady Macbeth, the heroism of Banquo, the courage of Lord and Lady Macduff, and the dark magic of the Three Witches!

At the end of the workshop, just in time for Halloween, students will showcase their hard work by performing for parents and friends.

Who is this for?
• All kids 12 – 18!

What are the requirements?
• No previous experience with Shakespeare or acting is necessary.
